NHLA is a licensed provider of heat treatment services for wood packaging material that is necessary for the exportation of products to many countries.
Accredited by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC), the NHLA Heat Treatment Program offers unique benefits and advantages to members and non-members that are involved in manufacturing wood packaging material.
The NHLA Heat Treatment Audit Program is available for both fabricators and heat chamber operators
The process begins with a phone call to NHLA Technical Services Director.
Whether you are a fabricator, taking domestic heat treated lumber and turning it into IPPC certified wood packaging material or you are a heat chamber operator sterilizing raw material for wood packaging material, NHLA has the ability to certify your wpm for international export.
After an evaluation of your needs, an initial audit will be scheduled. An NHLA auditor will travel to your facility, identify and train key heat treatment personnel, set-up record keeping materials and discuss proper rules of mark application.
Unlike other audit programs there is no enrollment fee and contract terms are flexible, keeping the small operator in mind. If there is a dramatic change in your business plan, it is possible to suspend your service and become “inactive.” Travel expenses are assessed for the initial site inspection and subsequent audits and monthly audit fees begin when stamps are received.
The National Hardwood Lumber Association has over a century of history and experience in providing the industry with the resources needed to compete in a global economy. The tradition and standards associated with NHLA continue with the NHLA Heat Treatment Audit Program.
NHLA Heat Treatment Auditors are recruited from the industry and have specific industry credentials as former lumber inspectors, kiln operations, or other related industry professions. Heat Treatment Subscribers receive the benefit of a vast networking stream.
NHLA can help you address technical issues, answer questions and connect you with other companies or services to help your business. And you can be assured that NHLA Heat Treatment Service keeps you abreast and informed of any proposed revisions and or changes in regards to ALSC and IPPC regulations.
